Slander

(Benjamin Teixeira) – Eugênia, what could you tell us about slander?

(Spirit Eugenia) – First, people on the average level of evolution of Earth have a great need of knowing the weaknesses of their fellow brothers and sisters in humanity, because of a natural instinct of defence, gathering information, to better position themselves in social relations. Therefore, the impulse to see the worse in others is fundamentally based on the fear and basic instinct of self-preservation. Some people, however, – and regrettably, this is very common on Earth – fall off into the practice of exchanging of morbid information, with neurotic and even evil intentions, as making public stingy aspects about others or even invent them, when not just passing on information added with other ideas, just by the effect of imagination. Thus, they try to place themselves above those whose reputation they slander, with the vain pleasure of “worsening” them, so that they do not feel so bad.

(BT) – What can we do in face of those horrible situations where people see negative traits we do not have, slandering us shamelessly?

(SE) – If there is room for defence, in case of a direct confrontation with the slanderer, let it be moderate, rational and polished. But if the conversation happens at distance, you should simply go silent and move on performing your own tasks, as designated by the Divine Providence. Life will show, at the right time, where the reason was and where the lie was treacherously hidden. The realization of good is the best proof to be in the path of truth, whereas simply monitoring the life of others is a suspicious and unworthy attitude.

(BT) – What would you say to those who have a taste for gossiping?

(SE) – They should contain themselves. They would be surprised if they could talk directly with those who are being slandered, to see how distorted vulgar conversations are, and that the intrigue, malice and wickedness to which they entrust themselves to, return to them with a destructive force, as much greater as less the slanderer deserves.

(BT) – Destructive force?

(SE) – Observe the life of slanderers and you will notice how they are usually unhappy and full of frustrations, because without a doubt, here or there, they will be attacking innocent people. It is inevitable. The practice of gossip is as reliable, as a source of information, as the “wireless phone” game, because passing on information about the reputation of others, frivolously, without checking them appropriately, is, at least, an irresponsible attitude. That’s why those who move a slanderous campaign against others, have their own lives deteriorated in such a manner, in all senses, that they may be ruined, not only morally and financially, but affectively and familiarly, especially if the person, who is the focus of the insane attack, is attached to the forces of good. The big issue is that slanderer hardly realizes his/her disgrace, feeling even more like a victim and downtrodden by life, then tragically intensifying the same vice of gossip, as a means to compensate their feeling of personal worthlessness, what generates a terrible vicious cycle of defeat in his/her own life.

(BT) – Can we say that, by revenge, someone acts this way?

(SE) – Very commonly. And not only deliberately, planned with strategic criteria. Few people do this – I mean: to consciously decide themselves and premeditate means of revenge against someone by means of attacking their reputation. But, unconsciously, the feeling of resentment, jealousy and hurt pride, for example, of those who felt left to one side in the game of love, may lead them to bundle up in their minds and then speak out, everything that ill will and malicious eyes can take note and especially imagine, completely irresponsibly, even though their grief do not allow them to see their unconscious attitude, abject and even criminal. A life of disappointments and bitterness, nonetheless, already starting in this very same life, is inexorably the consequence for someone who is given to this kind of practices.

(BT) – Anything else to say about this matter?

(SE) – No. For now, it’s enough.
