Lasting changes

When you want to start afresh, don’t try to break completely with the past.

There are critical situations – exceptions, though – in which you do need to carry out a “revolution” in your existence. But as much as possible,

think in terms of gradual development.

No true transformation disobeys nature’s spirit of progressiveness. Lasting changes are always based on a past of cumulative achievements.

Without a foundation, a building cannot stand. Without deep roots, a tree cannot extend its crown.

So, before you set out to make great leaps, think about strengthening the muscles in your legs, or you’ll not only frustrate yourself,

but you could also seriously injure yourself.
